Specifications

Standard:‌ ASTM A671/A671M.

Grade/Class:‌ Typically grades such as CC60, CC65, or CC70, and specific classes like CL22, CL32. ‌The class designation often relates to the heat treatment condition and the applicable temperature range for service.

Primary Application:‌ Designed for high-pressure service at atmospheric and lower temperatures. Its primary use is in the transmission of oil and natural gas, as well as in pressure vessel applications. ‌

Manufacturing Process:‌ EFW or LSAW. commonly using the JCOE forming method. ‌ The welds are required to be double-welded, full-penetration welds. Manufacturing and welding procedures, along with personnel, must be qualified in accordance with Section IX of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. ‌

Heat Treatment:‌ Heat treatment is a mandatory requirement for most classes under ASTM A671. All classes except 10, 11, 12, and 13 must undergo furnace heat treatment. The furnace must be controlled to within ±15℃ and equipped with recording instrumentation to maintain a verifiable heating record. ‌The specific heat treatment regimen for CL32 ensures the material's properties are suitable for its designated service conditions.
